He was born in Horta, Azores, the son of Manuel and Maria (Freitas) Melo of Dartmouth. He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School class of 1984 and attended Bristol Community College.
Mr. Melo was an Auto Body Manager and State Licensed Appraiser along with his father in their family owned and operated business Manny’s Auto Body in New Bedford. He also worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in several area nursing homes.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his daughter Lindsey R. Melo of S. Dartmouth and a brother Rodolfo “Rudy” Melo of Fullerton, CA.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
