

Joan M. (Hanlon) Correia, 66, of Dartmouth, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at home following a long illness. She was the wife of Henry “Sandy” Correia, Jr. with whom she shared 45 years of marriage.
Born in Boston, a daughter of Constance “Connie” (Maxwell) Hanlon of Worcester and the late George Hanlon, she had resided in Dartmouth since 1974. She was a graduate of U-Mass Amherst.
For nearly 30 years, Joan was a teacher for the City of New Bedford School District.
She had a lifelong love of the beach and adored her faithful companion, Dudley.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are her children, Joseph E. Correia of Dartmouth, Lisa A. Correia of Dartmouth, John “Jack” D. Correia of Lake Tahoe, CA and James “Jim” A. Correia of Brattleboro, VT; her siblings, Joseph “Joe” Hanlon of Anchorage, AK, Brian Hanlon of Beverly, MA, Roger Hanlon of Lake Oswego, OR, Robert Hanlon of Falmouth, Laura Hanlon of Newbury, MA and Stancie Hanlon of Daytona Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Alex J., Matthew J. and Macie L. Correia; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 9am in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Visiting hours Friday 3-7pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Burial in Dennis Village Cemetery, Dennis, MA.
