John C. Cabral, 76, of Dartmouth passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in St. Luke’s Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Angelina (Carvalho) Cabral with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Agua de Pau Portugal, a son of the late Joao and Maria (dos anjos) Cabral Pine he came to America at the age of 17.
John came to America with nothing. He came to live the American Dream and that’s just what he accomplished. He was a superintendent at JF White Construction for over 40 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed sports of all kinds. Of course, he was a Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins fan. His favorite was to watch soccer, especially Sporting.
Mr. Cabral will be fondly remembered by all that knew him as a great man with the biggest heart. Going out of his way to help others coming from the “old country” to start their American Dream.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his granddaughters, Cheyenne Cabral and Blair Cabral both of New Bedford; a sister, Carmen Sousa of New Bedford; brothers-in-law, Antonio Carvalho and his wife Connie of Acushnet, Jimmy Carvalho of FL, and John Carvalho and his wife Josephia of Marshfield; his late son’s fiancé, Stella Medeiros; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Steven J. Cabral and brother-in-law of the late Joe Sousa.
His funeral will be Monday, February 10, 2025 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in S. Dartmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 3-7 p.m. For online tribute/directions: www.waring-sullivan.com.
