Jose F. Moniz

Jose F. Moniz, 70, of Lutz, Florida and formerly of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Fatima (Cabral) Moniz, and son of the late Manuel and Julieta (Reis) Moniz.

He was born in Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, where he lived until coming to the United States in 1968. He lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Florida. He was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Mr. Moniz worked many years as a contractor painter. Mr. Moniz was a passionate Boston Bruins fan and enjoyed gardening. He was most happy when spending time with family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Stevin Moniz and companion Jennifer Costa of Dartmouth, Gary Moniz and his wife Nancy of Acushnet; and Derek Moniz of Florida; a brother, Joao L. Moniz of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Natasha, Nicholas, Matthew and Joseph; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 9:30 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME of MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Mt.
