

Born in Fitchburg, a daughter of the late Edmund and Yvonne (Lomme) Raboin, she lived in Spencer, Massachusetts for ten years before moving to Dartmouth in 1972.
A graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg, class of 1946, she graduated from Annhurst College in South Woodstock, Connecticut and attended Boston University in a Masters in History Program.
In her earlier career she was an elementary school teacher in the Southbridge, Townsend, and Natick, Massachusetts School Departments. After she raised her children she then worked as an Instructional Assistant for the Dartmouth and Westport School Departments.
Lorraine loved the work of the Dartmouth Youth Commission and served 17 years as a member. She was a devout catholic and was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church. She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church in New Bedford for many years. She was very active in the Focolare Movement, volunteering and assisting in the works of the Movement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors and taking walks amongst the woodlands and trails in Dartmouth.
She is survived by three sons; Michael Gagne and his wife Laurie of Dartmouth, Stephen Gagne and his wife Michele of Worcester, and John Gagne and his wife Kendra of Worthington, OH, two daughters; Marie Stacy and her husband William of Baltimore, MD, and Jane Gagne-Menzel and her husband Charles Menzel of Lilburn, GA, two brothers Roger Raboin and his wife Barbara of Lunenburg, and Raymond Raboin and his wife Jane of Leicester, one sister; Pauline Gagne and her husband Roger of Leominster, eleven grandchildren, one great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Alfred and Roland Raboin.
Her Funeral will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd. Dartmouth. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Provincial House, Brothers at Sacred Heart, 685 Steere Farm Rd. Pascoag, RI 02859-4601 in care of “For the Children’s Home” This is a home that many orphans lived in that recently burned to the ground in Zambia, Africa. Lorraine’s cousin, Brother Marcus, of the Sacred Heart is the founder of this home. She truly loved Brother Marcus’ work with those with so little. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
