

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Florencio and Susanna (Silvia) Almeida, she was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Kinyon-Campbell Business School in New Bedford.
Ms. Carvalho worked in the women’s clothing manufacturing business for many years. In 1967 she joined Kay Windsor Clothing, a subsidiary of Vanity Fair Corporation, in Dartmouth as the office manager. She held several positions within the organization and served as President for several years until her retirement in 1990.
In addition to her longtime companion, she is survived by her daughter Sheila Carvalho and her husband Brian Smith of Westford, MA; two grandchildren Rachael and Lauren Smith; a sister Alda Calvin and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Christina Mathews and Inez Rodrigues.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 8AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by her funeral mass at 9AM in St. Mary’s Church 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8PM.
