Born in Fall River to the late Joseph C. and Belmira (Mello) Tavares, Patricia built a life rooted in partnership and purpose. She was the devoted wife of Bob Vachon for 51 years. Long before they were married, Patricia worked alongside Bob at Edwards Machine in Fall River, the beginning of a lifelong partnership built on teamwork and shared effort. Together, they built their first home on Highland Avenue in Dartmouth, spent a short time living in Merrick, New York, and then returned to Dartmouth, where their family has resided for the past 36 years.
Patricia continued working alongside Bob in the early years of Dan-Mar Sewing Supply, helping grow the family business. She later worked in the front office at Bishop Stang High School, where she provided administrative support with reliability and care until her retirement.
In her everyday life, Patricia found joy in simple, meaningful things. She loved cooking—especially during the holidays—watching old black-and-white movies, rooting for the New England Patriots, completing crossword puzzles with expert precision, tending to the hummingbirds that returned to visit her year after year, and enjoying long, peaceful days at the beach. She was a natural green thumb who could grow almost anything.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Vachon; her beloved children, Danielle and Marc Vachon of Dartmouth; her cherished and only granddaughter, Nayeli B. Vachon, also of Dartmouth; her devoted sister, Cynthia Pacheco, and her husband Kenneth of Dartmouth; and her niece, Jennifer Pacheco.
Patricia gave her love in a thousand small, steady ways — through meals shared, traditions kept, and a home that always felt safe. A pillar of strength and grace, she loved her family more than anything. Even now, that love is still what holds us together.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth. A service will follow at 12:00 noon, with burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River.
