

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Alfred J. and Doris (Drinkwater) Brownhill, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Brownhill worked in manufacturing at Fairfield Optical and Carroll Cable. He later worked at Brooklawn Liquors. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars. Corvettes were his favorite. Richard was often bowling and he was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. Richard spent Friday evenings at his card league in Rochester. He and Paula loved to travel to Marco Island, Florida, but the most important thing in Richard’s life was his family and spending time together.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, David Brownhill and his wife Pui Yee of Acton and Jason Brownhill of Boston; daughters, Leigh Brownhill of Ontario, Anne Marie Ludwig of Milford, CT, and Lisa Zhawred of Fairfield, CT; brother-in-law, Fred Pontes of New Bedford; grandchildren, Adabu Brownhill, Hauwa Turner, Robbie and Cristina Ludwig, Stella, AJ and Shay Zhawred, and Trevor and Owen Brownhill. He was the brother of the late Marilyn Pontes.
His memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11 am in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME of MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will be private.
