

Robert J. Pappas, age 67, of S. Dartmouth, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Riley) Pappas to whom he had been married for 45 years.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late James W. and Margaret Mary (Bashall) Pappas, he was raised in Fall River and Somerset. Mr. Pappas was a 1965 graduate of Msgr. Coyle High School in Taunton, received his Bachelor’s Degree in English from St. Francis College in Biddeford, ME in 1969 and graduate studies at Boston University in 1975.
Prior to moving to South Dartmouth, Robert lived and worked as an English teacher, tennis and ski coach at Gilford High School, New Hampshire. He became a principal of Lincourt and Pappas Insurance Agency, Fall River and eventually owner of Robert J. Pappas Insurance Agency within Durfee-Buffington Insurance Agency, Fall River, later moving that agency to the Sylvia Group of Dartmouth.
Robert was a member of the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth and a former member of the Country Club of New Bedford. He was a coach with the Dartmouth Youth Soccer Association and the Dartmouth Youth Baseball and Basketball Association. His interests included baseball (Red Sox), football (Patriots), golf, the beach and motorcycle riding.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Nicholas C. Pappas and his wife Mary Ellen Lynch of Newport, RI and a daughter Anne C. Pappas Hagerty and her husband James W. Hagerty of Savannah, GA; two grandchildren Christian A. Hagerty and Charlotte K. Hagerty of Savannah, GA; two brothers William J. Pappas and his wife Marcia of St. Augustine, FL and Peter B. Pappas of Fall River and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11AM in the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth, 17 Middle St., Dartmouth, MA 02748. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT DARTMOUTH 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth.
