

Brewster – Austin R. Jacobs, 21, died unexpectedly August 27, 2013. He was born in Allentown, PA and relocated to the Cape in 1995. He was a graduate of the Nauset Regional School System and earned an Associates degree in Applied Arts from Greenfield Comm. College, graduating this past June. Austin earned his EMT certification while attending Greenfield College. Additionally, he earned a certificate for scuba diving. He was a seasonal worker for the DPW in the town of Dennis and had recently applied for a full-time position.
Austin was a passionate person with many interests. Among them, wood and metal work for which he won a Silver Key award from the Boston Globe. He donated many of his finished projects to charity to help their efforts to raise funds. He loved martial arts and was a member of the Dungeon Team. Fishing, softball, boating, motorcycles, the beaches of the Cape, and his many friends were among his other passions. He was extremely close to his brother Seth who was also his best friend. Together, they loved swimming at Sheep's Pond with their friends.
People were drawn to Austin's charisma, genuine nature and his beautiful smile, which would melt your heart.
Austin’s short life was about helping others and fighting for what he believed in. He had a strong sense of justice and would be the first to stop and help someone in need. He was passionate in supporting research in finding a cure for a disease known as Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva which affected a family member. Austin was an organ donor and gave his gift of life.
Austin leaves his parents Penny L. Jacobs of Allentown, Carl R. Jacobs of Brewster, his brother Seth Jacobs of Brewster, and his maternal grandmother Elizabeth Rauenzahn of Allentown. Austin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert O. Rauenzahn, Ellen B. and Carl Jacobs Jr. Additional family includes his uncle Robert Rauenzahn, wife Linda, aunts Linda Beltz, husband Charles, Ellen Snyder, husband Jack, along with numerous cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday September 2, 2013 from 9:30am – 12:30pm at the Hall adjoining Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Rd Brewster, MA 02631. A celebration of life service will follow at 1Pm in the main church. Interment will be private.
