

Mr. Cooper was a lifelong resident of Manhattan, a graduate of the prestigious Stuyvesant High School and Cit of College of NY. He served in the US Navy during WWII in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. He was founder and CEO of Cove, Cooper Lewis, Inc., A NYC Advertising Agency.
A runner since high school Mr. Cooper ran and completed 13 marathons starting at age 52. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the NYRoad Runners, Sponsor of the NYC marathon, serving as its Chairman for a number of years. He was instrumental in the formation and development of the NYRoad Runners Foundation, which promotes running for fitness for NYC youth.
His unique ability to interact with people of all walks of life, his enthusiasm for living, quick wit and genuine interest in each person made him a true friend to so many.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan Macycove Cooper, his daughter Beth Sherman (Thomas), his son Alan Cooper (Karen) two granddaughters, Jodi Pike (Btt Rosenau), Rena Kramer (josh), great granddaughter Bailey, sister, Selman Cooper, sister and brother-in-law Alive and joe Perdue, sister and brother-in-law Charlottee and Leonard Wasserman, Many devoted nephews, nieces and friends. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00am in the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rte 134, S. Dennis, Ma 02660. Burial to follow in Brewster Memorial Cemetery, Brewster, MA . A Memorial Service will be held in New York at a later date.
