Clifton Stephen Lawrence

September 26, 2012 at Cape Cod Hospital.

Born December 30, 1931 in Rochester, Massachusetts he was one of ten children born to Elmer and

Bernice Lawrence. Steve attended schools in Rochester and moved his family to Cape Cod in 1963. He

loved his work as a heavy equipment operator and would often take his family on Sunday drives around

the Cape pointing out construction sites in which he played a part. In his retirement, Steve spent a good

deal of time caring for his wife of 57 years, Merilou, who passed away in July of 2008.

Steve is survived by his children Dayle Lawrence of Harwich Port, Stephen Lawrence of Harwich and

Sheryl Walsh of Centerville. He also leaves four grandchildren Emily Dolan and her husband Kenneth,

Michael Crowell and his wife Jocelyn, and Jennifer and Samantha Walsh. Of particular delight and joy

in his later years was time spent with his great granddaughters Caroline and Adrienne Crowell. Steve is

also survived by his one sister in Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will take place on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Doane, Beal & Ames funeral home on

Route 28 in West Harwich from 4 to 6 pm. Burial will be private.
