Dana G. Smithson

Dana George Smithson, Nov. 5, 1970-Aug. 31, 2016 45, of Brewster, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long illness. He is predeceased by his sister Denise M. Smithson. He is survived by the pride of his life, his daughter, Kayleigh Marie Smithson as well as his father Donald and mother Gail Smithson and companion Crystal Cruckshank.

Dana ran his own business for many years as well as working for other local tree services, climbing and removing trees – he excelled in his field. He enjoyed experimenting with new recipes, entertaining friends around the fire pit, and having cookouts. He also loved animals and was an avid equestrian in his younger years, riding and showing on the appaloosa circuit from Massachusetts to Oklahoma. More recently he took up chainsaw carving creating unique animal pieces. Dana had a huge heart and was a loving and giving person. He will be remembered affectionately by his aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as all of those whose lives he touched.

A graveside service will be held in Dana’s honor on Friday, Sep. 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Quivet Neck Cemetery, Dennis. If attending, the family requests that you dress in Cape Cod Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dana’s memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston – Brewster Branch. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
