

He was born in Newark, NJ to the late Vincent and June Murphy.
Dennis called Needham and Chatham, MA his home for the majority of his life. He also spent years living in the towns of Medfield and Dedham, MA. In his retirement years, he settled down in the seaside towns of Dennis on Cape Cod and Naples, Florida.
Dennis graduated from Needham High (69) and was a proud alumni of Boston College (73). He later earned his MBA from Babson College. Dennis was fortunate to spend 30+ years with the same company, working as the CFO of Symmons Industries in Braintree, MA.
Dennis was very active in his community coaching little league baseball and softball, a well as youth basketball and football. For many years, he served on the board of directors for Needham Youth Hockey, Massachusetts Hockey and Tufts Medical. In retirement, he was an active member and served on the board of the South Yarmouth Tennis Club. He was also an active member of the Cranberry Valley Golf Club in Harwich, MA and of the Windstar Club in Naples, Florida.
Dennis most enjoyed spending his time with his family on the Cape and with his friends playing tennis and golf. He was a lifelong Boston sports fan and spent most weekend afternoons and evenings cheering on his beloved RedSox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary (Devlin) Murphy, his beloved children, Matthew Murphy of Scituate, MA and Catherine Murphy of Dennis, MA; his cherished grandchildren, Madelyn and Patrick Murphy; and his 5 siblings, brothers Dalton, Craig,and Kevin Murphy; and his sisters Lisa (Murphy) Enis and Diane (Murphy) Sullivan.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him throughout his very successful career and his passionately lived life in his many communities.
A funeral mass will be held in his honor on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 10am at Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Ave, Chatham, MA. Followed by a burial at Seaside Cemetery in Chatham and a celebration of life hosted by the family following the services.
