

Devar R. Scott, age 37, passed away on April 2, 2026. Born on December 26, 1988, in St. Ann, Jamaica, Devar grew up grounded in the values that would come to define a life marked by devotion, steady hard work, and a kind-hearted presence that will be deeply missed. He was a resident of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts.
Devar attended Ferncort High school and continued his education at Colburn College. Throughout his life, he remained a source of encouragement to those around him—cherished for the way he showed up for others with quiet strength, and beloved for the care he gave so freely.
Devar was the founder of Scott’s Landscaping and Property Management, a reflection of his diligence and pride in providing for those he loved, and proof of his hard working and passionate spirit.
On March 20, 2016, Devar married his loving wife, Shalamar Brown-Scott (spouse). Together they shared a devoted family life and cared for their three children, Tahlia Scott and Devar Lamar Scott, and Shamar Walker who were at the center of his heart and home.
Devar found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. He loved landscaping, fishing, playing soccer, travelling with his family, and playing dominos. An avid soccer player, he also served as the captain on his soccer team—bringing dedication, steadiness, and a generous spirit to the game and to those who played alongside him.
Devar is survived by his wife Shalamar Brown-Scott; his children Tahlia Scott, Devar Lamar Scott, Shamar Walker; his parents Lefulia Gooden and Aldred Scott; siblings Oneika Frazer, Geraud Harris Alleyne Reid, and Philia Scott; his mother-in-law Blanche Finegan; siblings-in-law Michelle Brown-Thompson, Derrick Spencer and Dwayne Brown; nieces and nephews Tiamoy Daley, Jehlani Christie, Rajero Harris, Willannia Thompson, Willasia Thompson and Willoneisha Thompson; his aunts Sadie Gordon, Karen Miller-Walters, Hyoline Gooden, and Loverna Gooden; his uncles Merton Gooden, and Enos Gooden; and his cousins Renee Bennett, Raje Lindsay, Njere Gooden, Necian Gooden, Shawn Gooden, Jovel Johnson, Chad Johnson, and Cecil Johnson; and a host of other family and friends.
Devar will be remembered as a beloved and devoted husband, father, son, and family member—cherished for his warmth, respected for his work ethic, and held close in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will remain a lasting blessing.
