Gail Anita Baker was a loving mother, grandmother, partner and friend. While attending an event in Huntington New York on May 29, 2021, with her longtime partner Charlie, she was very suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us. Gail was doing what she loved, smiling, dancing and spending time with her loved ones.

Gail was born on August 16, 1950 in Weymouth Massachusetts to Alice Mary and James William Baker. She is one of seven siblings, Robert Richard Willette, Eugene Gerard Baker, Florence May Baker-Hill, Priscilla Lorraine Baker Welch, James William Baker, William Norman Baker, and Ronald Wayne Baker. In 1979 she married now deceased Bertram George Nicholls Junior and is survived by her daughters Amanda Baker Nicholls and Julianne Marie Kuehn, son in law Joshua Kuehn, and Granddaughters Caeleigh Marie Podolske and Zoey Marie Kuehn.

Gail worked in various aspects of customer service starting at AT&T and continuing to Image Arts and was a valued employee at Matuk. In The spring of 2002 Gail met Charlie Cox, her loving partner of almost 20 years. Together they traveled all over to Aruba, Mexico, Jamaica and they’ve been on five cruises. They’ve been to the Dominican, Saint Martin, Memphis, Savannah, and New Orleans just to name a few. They attended Red Sox games all over including watching the Red Sox win the World Series in 2013. In my mothers words “my man Charles Edward Cox he has been very good to me, I love you Charlie.”

Gail was an avid yogi; she taught herself how to quilt and was a member of the Eastsiders Quilting guild and the Bayside quilters. She loved going to the beach and spending time with her family. She accomplished her goal of moving on Cape Cod to be closer to her family. Gail‘s family and friends consider her to be an excellent chef and like her name suggests, an amazing baker. She loved gardening and enjoyed reading.

To say she will be missed is an understatement. She brightened every room she entered. Her smile was infectious. Her heart was pure and kind. To have her in your corner meant you had her unwavering support. She was selfless. She was amazing. She was our mother.

Please come celebrate her life with us at Doane Beal and Ames funeral home South Dennis Tuesday, June 8 at 11 AM. We will share memories and speak about her around 1 PM. It will be an open viewing/wake, opportunity to share memories and say goodbye to a woman we all lost too soon.

“I love my family” Gail Anita Baker.

My dearest sister, Gail. I will miss you every day. You brought so much life, love and FUN every time we were able to connect and spend time making the greatest memories. You taught me to be a better person by being a better listener. Every moment with you, whether it was The World Series, the Queen Mary, Las Vegas, Universal Studios, just endless wonderful memories were always spent laughing and just enjoying the event. You brought joy and happiness to my life and I am forever proud to call you my sister and my friend.

Amanda and Julianne, may the Lord ease the pain you're feeling over your Mom's passing, and bring you peace, comfort and strength in ways that will see you through.

Dear Charlie, and to all of Gail's family & friends...
It is with a sorrow-filled heart that we write to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of your dearest Gail. Even though we had only met her a couple of times, we felt we knew her somewhat well through listening to the stories told to us by Charlie of all their exciting travel adventures (near & far), the numerous family events & celebrations they attended together, and so many of Gail's accomplishments, talents, and achievements. We know how proud you were of her Charl, and how lucky you felt you were to be the partner of such an amazing, loving and spirited woman... actually, you were both blessed to have been able to share in each other's lives for the past 18+ years.

And to Gail's family... we know of how close you all are... we feel your pain in this loss along with you... such a beautiful tribute in her obituary. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you in the days and months to come. Thank you for sharing Gail with a part of our family for so many years.

May Heaven embrace Gail, and may each day ahead bring a lessening of sorrow, a measure of comfort, and peaceful reminders of the love that will live forever in all of your hearts.
With our love and sympathy...
~ Aunt Nancy, Cousin Steve, and the rest of the Lamb Family

Gail was such a sweet and giving, upbeat and bouyant person. She was humerous and kind to all her quilting friends and spoke highly of her children and Charlie. I sincerely respected her and send you her family and loved ones my deepest sympathies.
