

George L. Malone of Brewster died at home on Saturday, March 1, 2014. George was born in Boston, Nov. 26, 1933, to George L. Malone and Mary (Byrne) Malone, and returned home with them to Milton, MA. George attended St. Gregory’s Elementary School and served as an altar boy in the parish for eight years. He graduated from Boston College High School in 1951 (first graduating class at the new, Morrissey Blvd. location). He graduated from Boston College in 1955, earning a BA degree in Accounting. George served in the U.S. Army, 1956 to 1958.
George is survived by his wife, Frances (Crea) Malone, whom he referred to as “my Frances” from their first dance at Maryanna’s in Braintree. They married in 1960 and shared their Sacrament for 53 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Dyanne Cooney and husband, Chris, of E. Dennis, Cyndi Heggie, and husband, Bill, of Newburyport; Lynne Barrett and husband, Dan, of Bridgewater, and son, George Malone and his wife, Lisa, of Chatham. George is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, Sara Cooney of Newburyport; Brian Cooney and wife, Jayna, of Hingham; Ellyn Nagle, Brighton; Jack and Dayna Nagle, Newburyport; Joseph and Kaitlyn Burchill, Bridgewater; and Olivia and Amanda Malone, Chatham, Also surviving George are his brother, Thomas Malone, of Canton, and his children Thomas, Eileen, Michael and Brian, and a close and caring nephew, John Flaherty.
George, Frances and family lived in Brockton, Canton and eventually Sea Pines, Brewster, MA, where in 1978 George began his Tax and Audit practice, George L. Malone, PC, retiring in 2003. George was a former President Financial Management Board Sea Pines; Brewster Board of Trade and Brewster Conservation Trust. He and Frances then began spending warm and sunny winters in Fort Myers, FL.
George enjoyed salt-water fishing, golf, family weekends, flower shows, walking and doing the “Malone float” at Sea Pines beach.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 6, from 4-7 PM at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt. 134, South Dennis. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster on Friday, March 7 at 11:00 AM followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brewster.
