CHRISTIE, James Frederick in East Dennis, February 28 at age 86. Beloved husband of Therese (Foley O’Keefe) Christie and Catherine “Kitty” (O’Neill) Christie (deceased). Remembered with love by his brother Frederick John Christie and his wife Frances Christie of Wethersfield, Connecticut and Fred’s twin sister, the late Annette Christie; his sister Maureen Leveille of Bloomfield, Connecticut; his sister Aileen Morrissey of Kennebunk, Maine; his nieces and nephews, Howard Aspinwall, Suzie Merino, James Morrissey, Katie Morrissey, and Lori Rayburn; his step-children Maureen O’Keefe of South Boston, Edward and Michelle O’Keefe of South Weymouth, Rosemary and Richard Chretien of South Weymouth, David and Stephanie O’Keefe of Milton and Marti and Ronald McKenna of Milton. He is also remembered lovingly by numerous grandnieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.
Born to the late Frederick James Christie and Mary (Finnegan) Christie in Hartford, Connecticut, Jimmy graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford, CT, and went on to attend Hillyer Junior College before joining the United States Navy Reserves and proudly serving his country before receiving an honorable discharge. After a successful 55-year career at Cigna in Bloomfield, CT, Jimmy retired in 2002 with his late wife Kitty to East Dennis, Cape Cod, where they had previously spent many joyous summers with loved ones and continued to make lasting memories with family.
Jim was lucky in love and enjoyed 46 years of a wonderful marriage to his first wife, Kitty. At the time of Kitty’s passing, the couple’s dear friend Terry O’Keefe had just lost her loving husband, Ed. The two couples had been great friends sharing a love of golf. What started out as a source of support blossomed into a wonderful second marriage for Jim and Terry, bringing to their new union over one hundred years of happy married life. Jim loved becoming a part of Terry’s extended family; family events were plentiful and Jim and Terry never missed one.
Jimmy remained an active member of his tight-knit Cape Cod community through his devotion to his faith and regular attendance to Our Lady of the Cape. He was a member of the Cape Cod Men’s Club and enjoyed the speakers and the comradery of the monthly luncheon meetings. Jim also was able to fulfill his passion for golf by retiring right next to Dennis Pines Golf Course.
