SOUTH DENNIS- It is with sadness we share that another of the “Greatest Generation” has left us. James J. Walker, 90, passed away on July 17, 2021. Born in Walpole, MA on October 18, 1930, he was one of eight children born to the late William and Blanche Walker. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served 20 years. Of his years in the military, 13 were overseas. He was stationed in occupied Germany during the Nuremburg trials; served two tours in Korea (Seoul and Busan) and one tour in Vietnam (Saigon).
After retirement from the military, Jim worked for many years for the US Post Office and retired in 1985. He loved being retired, saying that “every day was Saturday”, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, telling jokes, and sharing tales of his Army days. He will be missed.
He is survived by his two children: Sally ( Ted) Myers and Tom Walker of South Dennis; his sisters: Charlotte Alger of Franklin, MA and Blanche( Norman) Muccarone of Waban, MA; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
