Lynn Susan Alimo

Lynn’s life will be celebrated at a Catholic mass on Friday, September 11, 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Cape Parish in Brewster, MA. (Guests are invited to view the service via live stream at: www.ourladyofthecape.org). Following the mass, Lynn will be brought to her final resting place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Dennis, MA. Funeral arrangements are supported by Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, also in South Dennis, MA.

Lynn was born in Palisades Park, NJ. She grew up in Demarest, NJ with her parents, Arnold and Tessie Crasten and brother Charles, whom she lovingly referred to as ‘Charlsie’. After her marriage to John J. Alimo, Lynn lived in Rutherford, NJ, Paramus, NJ, Montvale, NJ, Upper Saddle River, NJ and Mahwah, NJ. Over the last 15 years Lynn and John split time between Florida and Cape Cod.

Lynn is survived by her husband of just over 60 years, John. The relationship between Lynn and John is one of the most beautiful and enduring love stories ever written. They were best friends, soul mates and will forever be connected for eternity. One of Lynn’s most important accomplishments was her family. She loved and cherished her daughter Janine Dethmers and sons John Alimo and Mark Alimo. She enjoyed special relationships with each of her children as well as their spouses, Doug Dethmers, Sheila Alimo and Lynn Alimo. And Lynn absolutely adored each of her grandchildren Heather, Dexter, Allison, Meaghan, John III, Duffy, Ryan and Grace; along with great grandchildren Cordelia, Rockwell and the forthcoming John IV.

Lynn loved her three special pets- Dookie, Penny and Meowie. She loved gardening, walking, animals, nature, laughing, and spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed the pool in Florida and the ocean at The Cape. She was one of the happiest people you will ever meet who always found boundless joy in the smallest things in life. Lynn was sweet, kind, humble, decent, and fun. She was youthful at heart, fun loving and full happiness. She often told people she never wanted to grow up and that she always loved to have fun. She loved building damns in creeks with her father Arnold and brother Charles in Schoharie, NY and collecting shells on the beaches of Florida and Cape Cod.

Prior to starting a family, Lynn launched a very successful career at Allied Chemical in NYC to as an executive administrator. She left Allied Chemical to work for Esso (that eventually became Exxon) where she moved up in the ranks reporting directly to the Treasurer of the corporation.
