Marguerite Mary McGourty

Marguerite Mary Milligan McGourty, Age 72, Loving Wife of the late Paul F. McGourty of South Dennis, Mass. Passed Into Rest on February 24, 2017 in Roslindale, Mass. from Alzheimers and Cancer. Daughter of Alexander Milligan and Marguerite Heffernan. Loving Step-Daughter of Francis Heffernan. Graduate of Marblehead High School Class of 1962 and Katherine Gibbs College.

“Maggie” was born in Dorchester in 1944. She never met her biological Father, Alexander who died in the Battle of the Bulge. Her Mom (Marquerite) re-married Francis Heffernan and they lived in Marblehead, MA. Maggie had two step-sisters, Maureen (Heffernan) Kelly of Winthrop, MA and she is pre-deceased by Nancy Fife of Marstons Mills, MA. Maggie is also pre-deceased by her son Alexander Beattie who passed at the age of two in 1987.

Maggie loved gardening, knitting and the ocean. Throughout even her most difficult moments she managed a smile and never complained. Maggie’s strength and spirit will live on in the many lives she touched including many Nieces and Nephews.

A Funeral Mass in Maggie's honor will be held at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 230 S. Main St., Centerville, MA on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit. For online condolences, please visit www.doanebealames.com.
