My beloved friend Mary. I miss you so very much.  You were my friend for longer than any other, we shared tons of joy and some sorrows.Your laughter will stay with me forever, our memories together will be cherished. No more suffering my sweet, I and my family were so lucky to have had you in our lives.

Mary was a gracious host to the whole Galvin clan for many memorable gatherings at the house in Harwich!

Mary held a special place in her heart for her niece Erin. Every Christmas she would give Erin a beautiful angel ornament.  When Norah was born Mary was thrilled to be a great Aunt.

The two of us were just a couple of 14 year old kids when we met, both with curly red hair, so we knew we had to stick together.  For years, the only thing I said to my parents was either “I'm going to Mary Nick's house” or “Can Mary Nick come for dinner.”  Our dad's coordinated school dance dropoffs and pickups.  Our mom's worked on our school play costumes – Mrs. Nick picked the materials and patterns and my mom and I made them.   When I was chosen to be head cheerleader, Mary and Mrs. Nick were so happy for me, they bought me a sterling silver charm for my bracelet, that I still have today.  It was the best time of my life, and Mary Nick was right next to me for all of it.  I lost touch with her after about 15 years, and only found her again this January.  Gerry and Paul, Marys ability to make the hardest days bearable, the easy days more memorable, and the ordinary days magical, was never lost on me.  I couldn't possibly ever forget her.  I wish you both peace to help ease your sorrow.

I have such fond memories of our years of friendship.  She was one of the kindest, caring people I had the pleasure of calling my friend.  She was there for me through so much, for that I am eternally grateful.  RIP Mary.

Some people leave a quiet imprint that time never erases.

Mary Nicholas was one of those rare souls… beautiful not just in presence, but in spirit. There was a serenity about her, a gentleness paired with a warmth that made people feel at ease without her ever needing to say a word. Though our paths hadn’t crossed in many years, (we were classmates at Elizabeth Seton H.S.,) I have never forgotten her graciousness and kindness. It stayed with me.

I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences.

Had many Excellent Adventures with Mary and Gerry. Cruises, white water rafting, ziplining, and other dangerous stuff. She was real, nothing phoney and everything up front. Too kind when she didn’t need to be. Gerry was her lifeline till the very end. Terrific woman, wonderful friend. You got this Mary. ♥️
