

Born on January 12, 1937 in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Mary A. (Ryan) O’Brien.
He attended St. Mary’s High School in Waltham, MA. Upon his graduation, Bob entered into the U.S. Marines Reserves, where he was honorably discharged to then enlist in the U.S. Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob attended Boston University, graduating in 1964. Prior to retirement, Bob worked for Raytheon, Westinghouse and retired from General Electric.
In 1977, he married Beryl N. (Rowen) Federico in Charlestown, MA and they were happily married for 37 years. He and his wife moved to the cape 21 years ago, and have enjoyed all that it has to offer.
His interests included reading newspapers and keeping up with current events. I his spare time, he enjoyed reading military history. He also enjoyed fine dining and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth A. O’Brien and Mary P. O’Brien.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beryl N. O’Brien of South Dennis; his daughter, Kathleen A. O’Brien of Naples, FL; his son, Michael R. O’Brien of Marshfield, MA; his sister, Maureen A. O’Brien of Caracas, Venezuela and his niece, Ana Tanner and her husband Trevor and their three children of Brunswick, ME. He also has several nieces and nephews in Venezuela.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA 02631. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
