

Known to family and friends as Billy or Bill, he was the beloved husband of Nancy Horan. Bill was born in Boston in 1963 to the late William M. and Ann T. (McCallion) Carnes.
He is survived by his children, Sean Carnes (Breanne), Lauren Lata (Michael), and Matthew Carnes. Bill was the brother of Mary R. Keable of Oakland, RI, John A. Carnes and his wife Angela of Burlington, and of the late Susan E. Carnes. Bill also particularly enjoyed being an uncle and cousin to his extended family.
Bill graduated from Canton High School and received his undergraduate degree from Providence College. He later received a Master’s in Computer Science from Boston University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Bentley University. He worked at Data General, before spending the majority of his career at EMC/Dell.
Bill could be found supporting his children in all of their endeavors. He notably loved ice hockey, both as a coach and player for nearly his entire life. He took great pride in introducing the game to younger generations. He was a longtime coach for the Demon’s Youth Hockey organization. Bill was also an avid golfer who enjoyed reading and traveling with his wife.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, February 24th at Doane, Beal, & Ames, 729 MA-134, South Dennis, MA 02660 and to a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25th at Saint Pius X Parish 25 Barbara St, South Yarmouth, MA 02664. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, 825 MA-134, South Dennis, MA 02660.
