William (Bill) T. Frain, Jr., of Brewster, MA passed away on January 3, 2016 after a long illness. Bill was surrounded by his loving family, including his wife, Myra Barradas Frain and his children. Born in Manchester in 1941, he was the son of William and Doris (Wiggin) Frain.
Bill spent a majority of his life in Manchester, graduating from Bishop Bradley High School, and later obtaining a degree from Saint Anselm College in Business and Economics. For 37 years following his graduation, he worked for Public Service Company of New Hampshire, beginning as a staff trainee and retiring in 2000 as President & Chief Executive Officer.
After retiring he left Manchester to live in Brewster on Cape Cod with Myra. Though he left Manchester, his love for the city he called home for so much of his life, never waned. While in Manchester, he devoted much of his energy to human service and educational organizations, business groups, arts and humanities organizations, and more. He believed that a community can only be made stronger and better through the time and devotion of those who live in it. The community honored him with numerous awards for his dedicated service, including being named the NH Business Leader of the Year in 1995, the Greater Manchester Citizen of the Year in 1997 and the NH Business Leader of the Decade in 2000.
After retiring Bill continued his community volunteer efforts focusing primarily on the issue of hunger through his work with the Loaves and Fishes ministry, St. Vincent de Paul food pantry and periodically making meals for area soup kitchens.
Everyone who knew Bill knew how much he loved his family and how devoted he was to them. They were always one of his greatest sources of pride and joy. He loved to speak of them often as well as to have them share in his life’s experiences. As a husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend he was deeply loved and appreciated. Family members who will miss him dearly include his wife of 30 years, Myra; his son Bill Frain, III and his wife Lori (O’Brien) of Clifton Park, NY and their children Andrew, John and Katherine; and his daughter Tammy Bond and her husband Scott of Fremont, NH and their children Julie and Jake. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret (Frain) Curtin of Sanibel Island, FL and North Andover, MA, and Patricia (Frain) McLynch of Gardner, Ma; and his brother Robert J. Frain of Manchester, NH along with their spouses, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was truly a special person who touched so many lives in positive ways.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Bill and Doris, his step-mother Margaret (O’Loughlin) Frain and his brother Richard Frain.
