

William H (Bill) Jefferson, age 100, of South Yarmouth, MA died at on February 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Linwood, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Alice (Donavon) Jefferson of Claymont, Delaware. He grew up in Milford, Delaware. He graduated from Milford High School and finished his education at the University of Delaware after serving in the army during World War II. He was stationed on Ascension Island for several months in 1943 and 1944. He later transferred to The Parachute Training Center at Ft. Benning, Georgia. On completion of training, he was assigned to a parachute artillery battalion where he served as a platoon leader with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After the war Bill returned to Milford and married the love of his life, his late wife, Norma (Greenly) Jefferson. They were married 72 years. Bill joined The John H Mulholland Company in Milford where he became plant manager. In 1953 he joined the General Latex & Chemical Corporation and served in many capacities during his 47 years of service; as General manager of their Ohio Corporation before transferring to the corporate office in Cambridge, MA in 1958, serving as vice president and sales director. He was appointed President and Director in 1969. He served in that capacity until he retired in 2000. The family lived in Needham, MA until they moved to Osterville on Cape Cod in 1975. Both Norma and Bill were active golf members at Oyster Harbors Club and Kingsway Golf Club on the Cape as well as The Meadows Country Club in Sarasota, Florida. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 63 years and a member of the Dennis Union Church, Dennis, Ma. His retirement was spent enjoying life with Norma in Sarasota, FL in the winter and Cape Cod the rest of the year.
In addition to his love of golf, he enjoyed his book club and experiencing the thrills and chills of being an ardent fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. He often mentioned his enjoyment of watching the Milford Red Sox, a Class D league team that existed in the 30’s and 40’s in Delaware and Maryland and produced many of the big-league stars of that era.
He will be missed by friends and family; daughter, Susan Garcelon of Nashua, NH and Gregory Scott Jefferson of Wrentham, MA; his grandson Gabriel Christian Dark and wife, Jessy; great grandsons, Bodhi Savage Dark and Samuel Jefferson Dark of Deerfield, MA; granddaughter, Ashleigh Elizabeth Bunker and husband, Paul; great grandson Owen Garcelon Bunker and great granddaughter, Maya Elizabeth Bunker of Epsom, NH. Bill is also survived by sister Mary Ann Gallagher, Oceanside, CA and sister Judith Riddle-Sheets, Phoenix, AZ. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandsons Joshua Ian Dark, Evan Garcelon and 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Bill will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Dennis Union Church, 713 Main St., Dennis, MA 02638. Military honors will be conducted in honor of Bill's service to our country.
