Carmen Lorena Hernandez

Carmen Lorena Hernandez passed away on May 13, 2026, at the age of 57, after her long seven-year battle with breast cancer. Carmen was the wife of Hernan Ortiz and mother of two, Madeline and Jechua Ortiz (her gorditos) and a grandmother of one, Jeremy Rico. Born in Guatemala, Guatemala City and immigrated to the US at the age of 10, and made her life here in Los Angeles.

Growing up in Los Angeles, she met people who became part of her life and family. She quickly established her banking career after finishing her education and rose to become a branch manager at Wells Fargo bank. After 15 successful years in Wells Fargo she began to shift her focus toward her family and home.

Carmen devoted her life to her family and friends; she never turned her back to them, always lending her hand or wisdom. She was there to help with any moral support she could give and opened her home to her loved ones who needed a place to stay.

Crocheting small tokens for her family and friends became a hobby that filled her with pride.

Carmen L. Hernandez will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her memory will live on the hearts and souls of those she touched and in those who carry on her legacy of helpfulness and kindness.

Carmen Lorena Hernandez falleció el 13 de Mayo de 2026, a la edad de 57 años, después de una larga batalla de siete años contra el cáncer de mama. Carmen fue la esposa de Hernán Ortiz y madre de dos hijos, Madeline y Jechua Ortiz (sus gorditos), y abuela de un nieto, Jeremy Rico.

Nacida en la Ciudad de Guatemala, emigró a los Estados Unidos a los 10 años y consolidó su vida aquí en Los Ángeles donde conoció a personas que se convirtieron en parte de su vida y de su familia. Estableció rápidamente su carrera bancaria tras terminar sus estudios y llegó a convertirse en gerente de sucursal en Wells Fargo Bank. Después de 15 años de éxito en Wells Fargo, comenzó a enfocar su atención hacia su familia y su hogar.

Carmen fue muy dedicada en su vida y a su familia y amigos. Nunca dio la espalda, siempre ofreciendo una mano amiga o palabras de sabiduría. Estuvo allí para brindar apoyo moral, y abrió las puertas de su hogar a los seres queridos que necesitaban un lugar donde quedarse. Tejer a ganchillo (crochet) para su familia y amigos se convirtió en un pasatiempo muy querido que la llenaba de orgullo.

Su familia y amigos extrañará profundamente a Carmen L. Hernandez. Su memoria vivirá en los corazones y las almas de aquellos a quienes tocó y en quienes continúan con su legado de ayuda y bondad.
