

Mrs. Rivas was born on February 29, 1936 in Chihuahua, Mexico.
She migrated to the United States in 1950 with her older siblings. She married Francisco Rivas in 1965. The Rivas’ moved to East Los Angeles where Francisco worked as a tailor and Romana worked as a seamstress. While in the United States Romana held several jobs until she finally retired with the Los Angeles Unified School District as a cafeteria worker in 2001. After her retirement she dedicated her life caring for her grandchildren.
Mrs. Rivas enjoyed traveling to new places with her loved ones. Her most treasured memories are of dancing at the Palladium with her sisters. She also enjoyed listening to music. What made her the happiest was being surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Mrs. Rivas is survived by her three daughters Patricia, Lupe, and Olga Rivas all from Los Angeles, California; and her three grandchildren Antonio, Frances, and Gabriel Angulo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco; her mother, Ma. Del Rayo Grajeda Gonzalez; and her father, Eugeneo Gonzalez Mendez; and her brothers Jose Luis Gonzalez, Bonifacio Gonzalez; and her sister Susana Velasco.
Rosary will be held on the 17th of February 2017 at Funeraria Del Angel in South Gate, CA from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. Her Mass will be held the 18th of February 2017 at the Roman Catholic Church Saint Helen’s in South Gate, California at 12:30 p.m.
