Gerald Jerry Henry Schmitt

Of South Milwaukee, Died peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on July 16, 2014 at the age of 75 years. Beloved husband of Nancy (Nee Slak). Loving father of Deborah (Joe) Schumacher, Mark (Vicki), Michael (Kim), and Wendy Hayes. Proud grandfather of Kelly, Steven, Becky Jo (Ben), Kelli Jo, Ronni Jo, Courtney, Emily, Elizabeth, Clayton, Brad, Diana (Alan), Ryan, and great-grandfather of Abbygale, Madelynn, and Charlotte. Dear brother of Wally (Mary Ann), Bobby (Mary), Annette (Duane) Ziege, and Marianne (Paul) Hoffman. Preceded in death by his daughter Donna, his parents Walter and Caroline, and his sister Lorraine Vertal. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 21, at 11:00AM at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. 800 Marquette Ave. South Milwaukee. Visitation on Sunday from 4-7PM at the funeral home and on Monday from 9:30AM until time of Mass at church. Interment Monday at 2:30PM at Holy Cross Cemetery. 7301 W. Nash St. Milwaukee. Meet at cemetery entrance. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wheaton Franciscan Health Care / St. Francis Foundation, or Divine Mercy Church.

Jerry worked at Kohl's Food Stores for 43 years, followed as a car salesman at Ewald Dodge and E.V.S. Menomonee Falls. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an usher at church. Jerry was also a member of Moose Club #49. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and the Green Bay Packers.

Jerry touched the lives of many with his big heart and sincerity. He will be missed by family and friends.
