Today is 12/12 Our Lady of Guadulupe.  It was on this day 3 years ago that Sally had her surgery.  I remember we spent the night together at my house because I lived so close to the hospital.  We put up the Christmas tree and she added lots of her own beautiful handmade ornaments.  It was so pretty!  She stayed over in the "granny" room as she called it, with a chandelier for a night light.  
When she got out of the hospital she spent a couple more days with me.  My mom made her beef vegetable soup which she loved.  My parents would send her care packages "meals on wheels" she'd call it. 
Christmas just won't be the same without her here with us, but we have to carry on and remember she's with baby Jesus and the Holy family this Christmas in heaven with all her dear loved ones.

Dearest Mother, you have been and continue to be such an inspiration to so many!  Your enduring love has given me great strength of mind and heart.  I appreciate all you have done!  Your beautiful spirit will shine on forever.  May God Bless you eternally as He has done so in life.

Mom was a wonderful person who would not give up on anything.  When the going gets tough, the tough get going she said.  She had so much strength and courage which she got from the Lord.  She always gave him all the credit.  We will miss her forever and she will be forever in our hearts and in our minds.  We will never let go of what she taught us.  She taught us about how we were suppose to live and then showed us how to die with courage and prayer.

A LOVING TRIBUTE TO MY DEAR SALLY

I treasure all the time we spent 
together these past few years, such a brief time in the span of her 83 years.  It was a privilege and a blessing to get to know and love Sally.  She is so loveable and her personality would light up a room.  Always friendly, joking, a song in her heart and on her lips.  She would entertain people with her music, singing, and playing the piano, accordian and the organ.  In the night sometimes she'd awaken and pray the organ.   Music was ever on her mind, even in her dreams.  I'm sure she's in heaven now singing and playing the organ with her parents, all part of the heavenly choir.  

She came from a holy, loving family that prayed the rosary together.  Her parents were like the Good Samaritan helping the sick, both stranger and friend.  Once they took in a truck driver who was sick at the side of the road in winter.  They gave him their bed, fed and nursed him back to health and then just told him to pass it on.  Her mother helped the women in her town as a midwife, not concerned with money only concerned that the babies were healthy and would be baptized.

Sally had a deep devotion to God and the Blessed Mother.  She was born on Holy Trinity Sunday and died in October the month of the Rosary.  Her holy hands were filled with good deeds of love and prayers.  She attended daily mass whenever she could, Holy Hours, and the all-night First Friday prayer vigils, playing the organ many times, even at St Josaphat's Basilica.  She especially loved the Pieta prayerbook and recommended the 15 Bridget Prayers with all their promises, and, of course, the Holy Rosary.  

She had a deep devotion to St Joseph and the Holy Family, St Anthony, St Padre Pio, Blessed Solanus Casey and St Therese the Little Flower.  Like the Little Flower she had a great love for Baby Jesus and Child Jesus, in all His Miraculous forms; as well as, the Blessed Mother and the Holy Face of Jesus.  Her house was filled with Blessed Statues and consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. 

Family and friends would come to her with prayer needs from a little child on.  Her prayers would bring swift answers to alleviate their troubles.  I can personally attest to the fact that Sally would pray people's trouble away.  I was touched by an old mirror with the Morning Offering Prayer on it.  She had placed it there so her children wouldn't forget their prayers.  From the time she was first married she would kneel at the side of her bed with her husband and pray every night before bed.  

Sally was a wonderful cook and baker, and enjoyed gardening and canning.  She also did many crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and making Christmas ornaments.  Sally's blanket's of many colors made from scrap "orphan" yarn, she would give to the homeless.  She made rosaries to be given to missions and hospitalized patients.  She took great delight in rescuing broken, forlorn and forgotten Holy Statues, repairing and repainting them, till they were restored to their former glory.  

She volunteered her time and talents to the church and senior center. Even her children joined in, and they played the organ and sang together at Willowcrest Nursing Home to cheer up the residents.

Sally was Pro-Life and deeply troubled by abortion.  She was able to talk a woman into keeping her baby and years later that woman thanked her.

She had many friends at church and the senior center, but her best friend of over 50 years is Jean Porter.  They raised their children together.  Jean would visit her every Sunday and bring her Communion when she was unable to attend Mass anymore.  Jean suffered a stroke the day Sally was first hospitalized.  Let us all remember to keep Jean in our prayers for a speedy recovery.

Lastly, let us not forget to pray for Sally and to also ask for her assistance in our daily needs.  I always felt she was a living Saint, and believe she is now in Heaven making music for Baby Jesus and the Blessed Mother.

May the Lord comfort and console you in your time of need.

Remember to celebrate the life a great woman that I was fortunate to call my aunt and a friend.  Somehow, I see her playing the organ in heaven and entertaining now that she is no longer in pain.

As the sun has set and darkness comes, her mother has called her home for supper time.  She now joins God at his table.

Dear Kathy, Chris & Debbie - Visiting with your Mom just a few short days ago will be a memory that I will carry with me for all the days of my life.  Your Mom made my wedding veil, taught me how to wrap gifts, and took me on my first vacation.  Memories of staying at the family farm are still clear today.  Not to mention the many afternoons spent at her kitchen table, knowing that when Frank came from work it was time to go home.  Your Mom's prayers for me meant I had a chance to beat my illness because no one prayed like she did.  Everyone who knew her loved her.  May the comfort of friends and family be your strength now and in the days ahead.

Kathy, Debbie and Chris your mom is at peace.  For me her house was an "open door" and I will always remember her laugh and how she alway so kindly included me in baking and just whatever was going on for the day.  She loved our mom and my mother loved her.  We hope you find comfort in your memories.
