OK RITA,THIS MAKES ME CRY,BUT FOR YOU ANYTHING. I LOVED VERN WITH ALL MY HEART,HE WAS THE ONLY MAN TO EVER BRING ME FLOWERS AND CANDY,ALWAYS WITH A SMILE AND KISS.HE WAS ALWAYS A WELCOME SURPRISE, IN HIS GREEN UNIFORM,,WITH LOVING MEMORIES REMEMBER HIM EVERYDAY AND SHARE HIS MEMORY WITH THE GENERATIONS TO COME!LOVE DAWN

There is so much to say about this man.  Dad-Grandpa-Great Grandpa-Brother-Uncle-Brother-in-Law-Son-Father-in-Law-Friend.
He had lots of titles and taught us all so much.  LugerHead.  Another title used most affectionately; is a great way to describe him.  Of strong, confident, German constitution, and maybe a little stubborn.  He would say, "You can always tell a German, ya' just can't tell em' much!".  He was there - no matter what.  He stood by us, supported us, and loved us.  Unconditionally.  He was our "go to guy".  Anything that needed fixing, adjusting or figuring out.  This guy could do anything.  He probably didn't know enough about how we felt, how much we appreciated him, how we thought he could almost walk on water.  Maybe we didn't thank him enough.  But, I'm sure he always knew we loved him.  He didn't always have as much patience, or the softest tone like Mom did.  But, it balanced out perfectly.  We can believe now that there is no pain, confusion or longing for anything.  They are together and I know they will continue to watch over us and guide us and love us.

It has been an honor and priveledge to have gotten to know Vern.  He was a kind man with class and a great sense of humor.   I will never forget Christmas in his basement, with antique beer cans lining the walls, neon signs ablaze and the sounds of his late wife's sweet voice permeating through the air via an old reel to reel tape machine.  To the Hoffman family and anyone else blessed to have gotten to know Vern, I offer my deepest condolences.

To the family of Vern Hoffman, our deepest sympathy goes out to you all.  We all enjoyed Vern visiting in Duluth, MN he always came with a smile and a good conversation.  May the memories of your father carry you through this difficult time.  God Bless each and everyone of you.

Budman, you will be remembered for so many reasons.  Now you and "Ghost" have the radio all to yourselves.  God be with you our friend.

Grandpa- I will never forget you for the man you were. I only feel comfort knowing you are going where you wanted to be with my Grandmother, and my Dad, I will always think of the three of you till I see you again.

Dad - I think we had a bond not like every Dad/daughter. I am so lucky to have had you in my life and that bond will never be broken.  I love you

The world is full of fathers, but not all of them are Dads. From the very begining, you gave freely of yourself, and gave me everything I needed to make something of my life. You will always be a part of me, as I was a part of you. I'm proud to have you as my Dad, and proud to be your son. You are loved, and you will be deeply missed.

Dad, You were such a bright and shining light in my life.  If I was given a choice I could not have chosen a better Dad.  You were always there whenever I needed you and I am so glad that I could be with you when you needed me.  I will love you always. Love, Rita

I'm Only In The Other Room

My Father called, and, I'm sorry I had to leave.
It's o.k. I know you love me when you grieve.
I'm now standing in glory with God, and that, you must believe.
There will be times when you'll wish I was back, but, just remember this:

The one my Master made for me.

Hoffman Family:

I am very sorry to hear of your loss.  Your dad was a great guy and I was very luck to have gotten to know him through life.  May your memories give you peace during this time.

For the past 12 years Vern has opened his home to me for Christmas and other gatherings without hesitation,  always making sure to give the reminder "you make sure you come back next year."  He was a fantastic person, always quick with wit, a great sense of humor, and very understanding.  He will be missed greatly by his children, his legacy, who will carry on this great name and his fantastic traits.  Vern you are a man that men today should aspire to be,  you truly are unmatched by many, and held in high regard by all.  Rest in Peace.

Dear Uncle Vernal,
What a great son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle you are. We all love you.
