William Robert Spaltholz

Age 86 of South Milwaukee passed away February 3, 2012. Beloved husband of Nancy for 57 years. Loving father of Peggy (Ken) Nowak, Christine (Charles) Jaskowiak, Amy (Trent) Nelson, Sue (Robert) Winckler and Thomas (Carrianne) Spaltholz. Grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Son of the late Margaret and the late Arnold Spaltholz and brother of Janet Starks and the late Shirley Spaltholz. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Bill enrolled at UW LaCrosse where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He was a member of the 1951 Cigar Bowl Football Team. Bill was inducted into the LaCrosse Athletic Wall of Fame in 1983.

Bill taught in the South Milwaukee School District for 35 years and proudly coached the Rockets football team for 32 years. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1986. In Bill's honor the S.M. High School football field is named "Spaltholz Field".

Bill served as president of Grace Lutheran Church and the South Milwaukee Lions Club.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at the funeral home from 4-8PM. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb. 8, 10:30AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 3401 E. Puetz Rd., Oak Creek, with visitation at church from 9:30AM until the time of service. Interment Forest Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's name may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Oak Creek or S.M. Football Booster Club-Scholarship Fund.
