

Elizabeth (Betty) Kramer most recently of Ivyland, PA died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. She was born on September 2, 1933 outside of New York City. She was the daughter to Jacob and Julia (Stadelmeier) both of whom immigrated from Germany shortly after World War I. Raised in Abington, PA, Betty was the youngest of four children. Her sister Leah (Stadelmeier) Stollenwerk, and brothers Steve and Ernie Stadelmeier are deceased. While at Abington High School, she became quite skilled as an artist and was awarded a scholarship to Philadelphia College of Art. In 1954, she married Leonard (Len) Kramer, a classmate from Abington High School and they enjoyed their initial days together in Alaska while Len served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Betty often said that their days in Fairbanks were some of the most exciting and best days of their lives. Betty is survived by her husband Len, her son Mark and wife Barbara of Topsham, ME, her son Erik and wife Edie of Reading, MA and her daughter Kristen Stout and husband Tim of Philadelphia, PA as well as her grandchildren, Brent and Kelsey Kramer of Topsham, ME and Will and Samantha Kramer of Reading, MA. In addition to raising her family, Betty enjoyed a career as a draftsperson where she performed facilities design. Beyond her employment experience, Betty was particularly fond of bird-watching, gardening and general landscape design as well as pursuing her art at various times.
Betty loved her family greatly and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and companion. She will be remembered for her warmth, easy-going nature, and sharp wit as well as the gentle yet passionate way she embraced life and those around her.
