From a young age, Emily selflessly supported her single mother in caring for her siblings through trying times in the 1940s and 50s. She married the love of her life, Roy Allen Weiser in 1956, and started a new chapter raising her own two daughters first as an army wife in Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning), Georgia and later in their Huntingdon Valley home, where they resided for 54 years.
Emily had a great passion for homemaking, and was tremendously skilled in the kitchen and garden, and was proficient with needlework. It was often said that she should open a bed and breakfast! Her passion for homemaking and many of her famous recipes are legacies that have been passed on through the generations including to her 10 great grandchildren. To this day, the family continues to knit, sew, garden, can jars of applesauce, and make her famous cheese pie following her many years of influence. As her children grew, Emily pursued a lifelong vision to become a career woman, where she eventually established a long-standing career with IRS.
Emily and Roy were adventurers at heart and avid outdoors people, spending much of their life camping, boating, skiing and taking trips around the world together and with family; including sailing on Barnegat Bay in New Jersey, and making frequent trips to the cabin in Delta, Ontario, which Emily declared to be her favorite place in the world. Emily will be remembered for her strength of character, ability to warm any environment, and her conviction to always put family first. Most importantly the family will cherish countless memories of good times and hearty laughter from embracing every opportunity to spend time with their mother, grandmother and sister.
Emily is survived by her daughters, Jennifer D. Lichtner and Susan E. MacInnes; her 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and her sisters, Evalyn Leonberger, Carol Pue and Donna Boggs. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Allen Weiser, her mother Lillian Pue, her brother Dale Wragg and her two sons-in-law; Doug MacInnes and Frank Lichtner.
A celebration of Emily’s life will be at 2pm on Wednesday November 8, at Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA, where the family will receive guests from 1P.M. until the time of the memorial service. Interment will be private.
