

Roland N. Clayton died on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Doylestown Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Edward A and Sarah A. Radcliff Clayton. Roland was a Warminster resident for 52 years; he had previously lived in Philadelphia.
Mr. Clayton a retired machinist, he had been an employee of FMC in Horsham (formerly Stokes & Smith in Philadelphia).
Roland was an Army veteran of WW II, serving with the 157th Engineers in the European Theater. Mr. Clayton was awarded the Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster. Roland was a member of the Chalfont VFW Post 3258.
Roland was an avid bowler. He enjoyed playing in to his mid-90’s. Roland was involved with the 157th Engineers after the war as historian and organizing annual reunions and newsletters. He enjoyed this contact with the men he served with as well as their wives and families after their death.
Roland was the beloved husband of Anna Beatty Clayton for 66 years before her death in 2009. He was the devoted father of Edward R. Clayton (Lynn) of Warminster, Kathryn Wilson (Larry) of Mainesburg, and the late David R. Clayton. He was the loving grandfather of Edward S. Clayton, Michael Clayton, Melissa Bunce, and Amy Cummings. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and his sisters Edna Robertson of Jenkintown, Helen Vanartsdalen of Souderton, and the late Marie Smith, of Arizona.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 9th from 11 Am to 12 noon. His service will be at noon. Roland’s interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
