Shirley (or “Lee”) was born on October 11, 1934, in Delaware County, PA, to parents Kenneth L. Stott and Dorothy M. Dann Stott. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenneth L. Stott, Jr., and her husband, Robert N. Titus.
Shirley is survived by her daughters: Roberta L. Titus Edgar, married to Jesse C. Whitenight, and Donna L. Titus Laird, married to Martin E. Laird. Shirley's grandchildren, Amanda J. Edgar Lovell, David F. Edgar, and Martin R. Laird, will deeply miss her, as will her great-granddaughter, Juliana Edgar.
She graduated from Lansdowne-Aldan High School where she was a star in track and field events as well as field hockey. She was elected to the May Queen Court and excelled academically. She attended business school after graduation.
After graduation, Shirley worked as a secretary and processed payroll for the Pennsylvania Railroad before her marriage. After spending time in Indiana while her new husband attended Purdue University, Shirley and Bob returned to the Philadelphia area, living in Broomall and Plymouth Meeting to raise their family. Shirley and Bob then moved to a small farm in Lancaster County where they grew apples and made cider to sell to local farm markets.
After Bob’s passing, Shirley moved to Buckingham to be closer to her daughters. She volunteered for The Red Cross blood drives and played the piano at her church, First Baptist Church, Wycombe. When Shirley moved to Pine Run in Doylestown, she also played the piano for church services and for patients on the dementia unit.
In addition to being an accomplished pianist, Shirley was an expert seamstress and knitter. It was her baking skills that led to many blue-ribbon prizes at the Solanco Fair and then at the Middletown Grange Fair.
Her memorial service will be on Saturday, March 14th, 2026. The service will take place at "The Hub" in Pine Run Village (Presbyterian Senior Living), located at 777 Ferry Road, Doylestown, PA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a Service of Remembrance at 11:00 am. A light luncheon repast will be shared after her service.
