

Susan was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Ridgewood, NJ. She graduated in 1943 from Linden Hall College in Lititz, PA. In 1944 she enlisted in the Navy. After her time in the Navy she moved to Swarthmore, PA, where she met and married Ransom Dethloff in 1951. Susan lived in Huntingdon Valley, PA until 2001 when she moved to Southampton Estates.
Susan was active all her life and belonged to clubs such as the Swarthmore Friends Meeting and the Bux-Mont Women Veterans Association, Inc. She was a devoted mother and grandmother but still made time to enjoy the things she loved. Susan was an avid tennis player, a competitive golfer and diligent gardener.
Susan was pre-deceased by her husband, Ransom Cooper Dethloff in 1996. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Charlie Montague of Bethesda, MD, her son and daughter-in-law, Ransom “Randy” and Maureen Dethloff of Fort Washington, PA, her son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Rosemarie Dethloff of Philadelphia, PA, her four grandchildren; Melanie and Jerry Trudell of Dublin, OH, Steven and Janelle Dethloff of Columbus, OH, Brian and Lauren Dethloff of Glenside, PA, Eric Dethloff of Philadelphia, PA, and her three great-grandchildren; Natalie Trudell, Kyle Dethloff and Shane McCauley.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1pm at Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home, Southampton, PA. Services will follow at 1:30pm.
