She is survived by her husband, two children, two grandchildren, four siblings, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Becky was raised in the mountains of western North Carolina and graduated from the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina in 1960. She married her husband Malcolm, a career Air Force officer, in 1961. Their 56-year marriage included postings across much of the United States and Europe before they retired to the Brunswick County beach community which they and their family have enjoyed since the late 1950's.
Becky was a skilled seamstress and delighted in her role as costume mistress for the cast of numerous dance and musical theater productions in which her children performed. She loved to attend ballet and symphony performances, and never tired of watching classic movies, especially those that included song and dance, period costumes and set design. Some of her other interests included landscaping with native and heirloom plants, bird watching and coastal conservation. She was a staunch advocate of veteran’s charities, and supported several other local service organizations.
Her gentle wit and impeccable manners might have led a casual observer to underestimate her strength, determination and persistence -- but through the years she prevailed over nearly every obstacle.
Most of all though, she was a devoted wife, mother, adoring grandmother and selfless volunteer who never failed to remind those she cared about of her love for them, her faith in their abilities, and her pride in their accomplishments.
Her family would like to express thanks to the skilled and compassionate caregivers of New Hanover Regional Medical Center, especially the staff of the 7th floor Progressive Care Unit, for their many kindnesses during Becky’s time there.
