Catherine Potter Melton

Cathy Potter Melton, 61 of Southport, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015. Cathy was a Southport Native being born and raised here. She was a member and officer of the Southport Claim Diggers Union. She was preceded in death by a brother Leroy Potter.

Surviving is her loving husband Rodney Melton, Sr., her beloved dog Kiera; a son Rodney Melton, Jr.; a granddaughter Ariel Melton Largin; a grandson Alex Melton, a great-granddaughter Carlene Largin; 3 brothers John “Tookie” Potter and wife Joyce, Robert Potter and wife Jean, and Donnie Potter and wife Vicki; a sister-in-law Robin Potter; brother-in-law, John D. Melton and wife Linda; 2 sister- in-laws, Barbara and Earl Clewis and Dianne and Rick Ristow; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Southport Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Tomlinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Old Smithville Burying Grounds. This service will be a celebration of life and family and friends are asked to dress in Hawaiian shirts, brightly colored clothes, and flip-flops or comfortable shoes.
