

Dale was born January 15, 1950, in Cabarrus County and raised in Kannapolis, NC. He was the son of the late Charles J. and Mary Ellen Beaver Sloop. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the Brunswick nuclear power plant after 35 years of service. Dale was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a true lover of the outdoors and an avid surf fisherman. As a member of the Eastern Division of Campers on Mission, he spent many hours giving of his time, skills, and knowledge for the benefit of others.
Survivors include two daughters, Shellena McCall and husband Clyde of Fredericksburg, VA, and Santresa Fulford and husband Michael of Southport; brothers George “Kale” Sloop (twin brother) and Randy Eugene Sloop of Salisbury; 6 grandchildren Johnathan McCall, Joshua McCall, David “Cody” Holland, Riley “Dale” Holland, Dakota Culpepper, and Kathryn Huey; and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, Connie Mills Sloop and sister, Martha Ellen Sloop Mullis.
The family will have visitation at Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home (Southport, NC) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southport, NC on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11:00 am. The burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park of Concord-Kannapolis on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
