Christopher Lee Garofolo left this mortal realm suddenly at 39 years old, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. We believe he did it on purpose to avoid the free ride to the Brunswick County Hotel that the local sheriff deputies have been so diligently trying to give him for months.
Chris spent his younger childhood years in Riverdale, Maryland where he taught himself to drive at the ripe old age of 10, with the neighbors pickup truck that he "borrowed". As a pre-teen, he moved with his family to Leland, North Carolina, where he perfected his impeccably smooth dancing skills by watching Darren’s Dance Grooves until the VHS tape, upon realizing the student had surpassed the teacher, decided to destroy itself in a fit of jealousy.
Christopher’s magnetic personality drew people into his orbit. He was so magnetic that even guard rails, ditches and bridges all along Mount Misery road wanted to be closer to him on at least three different occasions.
His passing will leave behind so many more feral roadside treasures for his father and sister to pick up, because they also can’t seem to pass up a good piece of junk that has potential.
Chris loved his children and being a father more than anything in this world. He was preceded in death by his infant twins, Laney and Landon Garofolo.
Dad, through the eyes of his children: Our Dad's love was so unconditional that many couldn't help but to love him back. He gave the most heartfelt bear hugs that you could ever receive. He would sacrifice everything to make sure we had what we needed. Even in the scariest of moments he made sure we felt protected. Any questions we had he would always have the answers. We know our Dad's actions didn't always show it, but God was very important to him. In all of his conversations with us the topic of faith always came up. We know that he will guide us for the rest of our lives. Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a Dad.
He is survived by his children: Chrisalee, Jaylin, Jayden, & Kayden Garofolo, parents: Melody & Carmelo Garofolo Jr, siblings: Amber Townsend and husband Steven Lowery, Charlie Garofolo and wife Candy, 5 nieces and nephews, and way too many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins to count because apparently our family hasn’t yet adopted the use of birth control.
Because of Christopher's love for animals and wildlife, the family would like to remind folks that balloons do not go to heaven. They respectfully ask that no balloon releases be held in his honor or memory.
A fundraiser has been set up to help the family with funeral costs and support of his 4 surviving children https://gofund.me/36da2ec3.
A visitation service for friends and family will be held at Peacock, Newnam & White Funeral home in Southport on Saturday, May 13th, from 2-4pm. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date, location to be determined.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.peacocknewnamwhite.com for the Garofolo family.
