Ed was born August 2, 1954 to the late Richard Alexander Thurston, Sr. and Emmie Edith Paul Thurston. He was as Eagle Scout, an electrician, a sailor, a chef, class clown, story teller, and a pirate; he was loved by all and will be missed.
Survivors include his son David Thurston of Asheboro; two grandchildren, Reice and Desirae; four brothers, and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 on the beach at the Yaupon Pier.
