Joel!

Dear Joel, So sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved wife Evie. I have such fond memories of both of you from our USPS years. Hoping time will heal your heart and fond memories will ease some of the pain of her absence.

On the Monday before Evie died we had a hurricane.  The next morning she had power and I didn't. Before long I was sitting in her driveway and she was pouring hot coffee in my thermos. That was the last of times too many to count when Evie's generous, caring spirit graced my life.  I loved her deeply, and I shall miss her greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with Joel and the rest of Evie's family and friends. 

To  all of Evie's loving family - my heart goes out to you in your loss of dear Evie.  

Every time we spoke, she brought me home, and I think that's what I shall miss the most about her. From our first meeting when she was no more than 4 or 5, until not long ago when we last Skyped I would see the same little girl who lived a rich life with all the joys, challenges, heartaches, successes; who was devoted to her family and wore her heart on her sleeve for all the world to admire, and sometimes poke. Refreshingly, I always knew where I stood with Evie - that was just one of the many gifts she gave us.

Evie owned her life fully.  Another refreshing fact about her. So, so much to miss...

To Evie - may your road to heaven be lit by all your loved ones who are already there, and may your mind and body be at peace. 

To Joel - may your journey through the darkness ahead make you stronger and may you always honor Evie's memory. It's a long trip I know, - I'm still on it, and I wish you the courage to always make Evie proud in everything you do.

To all who were lucky enough to know Evamarie Lalla Walker, my deepest sympathies for this huge loss.

Evie’s too-sudden passing serves to reminds us that not keeping in touch can never be regained. It’s been 22 short years that Evie joined the PostalOne! team and brought her dedication and effort to a diverse group that embodied both fun and exciting changes for the Postal Service. Even as we’ve gone our separate ways, it was gratifying to watch Evie grow professionally and extend her caring friendship to everyone she knew.  
We’ll both miss her and foregone chances to have spent more ‘Carolina time’ together.

It was an honor to have known Evie, both as a coworker and as a friend. She was straightforward, hardworking, knowledgeable, generous, and genuine. My heartfelt sincere condolences go out to Joel and to her extended family. Gone too soon but graced many lives with her accomplishments and fond memories.

  

Dear Joel, our family is so sorry for your loss.  We enjoyed the many beach vacations where you and Evie joined us.  She loved beach combing with us and was always so helpful and fun to be around in the kitchen.  She was very generous toward our daughter Emma and would always have a gift to give.  We were very saddened to hear of her passing.  Condolences to the entire family.

If you were Evie's friend you had a devoted friend for life. Evie was a very giving, caring, and thoughtful person. We will cherish the moments we shared with her as well as all the experiences and memories while traveling with Evie to such places as Tuscany, the many beach towns of North Carolina, St. Augustine, Charleston, and most recently to Savannah. Evie was agreeable to anything you wanted to see or do while traveling. She cared deeply and we will miss her sense of humor, her New York accent and "spunky" personality most of all.
