

Born in Brooklyn, NY February 21, 1936 to George and Catherine Merrifield.
He is survived by his wife 26 years, June V. Merrifield; his daughter, Judy Cardella and her husband Mike, of Southport; his son, Mark Merrifield and his wife, Carolyn, of Sebastian, FL, and Matthew Merrifield of Delanco, NJ; his grandchildren, Michael Cardella, Danielle Kanters, Maxx Rizzi, Madison Rizzi; his great-grandchildren, Fenna and Flora Kanters; and step-son, Robert Rizzi; and many nieces and nephews.
George went to the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed for 33 years at Public Service Electric and Gas Company of Newark, NJ. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Waretown, NJ were he served as Vestry Member and Jr. Warden. He was a lifelong member of choirs , choruses and theatrical groups throughout New York and New Jersey.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 22, 2025 at Peacock Newnam and White Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, August 22, 2025 before the service at the funeral home.
