Heaven’s beach just got a whole lot sunnier. Kathryn Grace Stuck, age 63, completed her fifteen-month long battle with Cholangiocarcinoma on March, 24th, 2026. Kathy passed away peacefully surrounded by her friends and family and with a serene view of the beach, just as she desired.
Kathy was born in Washington DC, on February 7th, 1963. She grew up in a close-knit family surrounded by loving parents and four brothers and sisters. Kathy’s life was filled with faith, family, laughter, wine, and a love of the great outdoors, and in particular, the search for the world’s best beaches. Nothing mattered more to her than her relationships with her children, grandchildren, husband, and friends. In her early life, Kathy worked in the world of fashion where she expressed her creativity in her work in theatre, movies, and television. Later in life she became an educator, teaching essential home economics life skills to high school students. Whether she was teaching sewing classes, making Halloween costumes for her kids, quilting, or designing something from scratch, Kathy’s creativity was never lacking. She was also passionate about refurbishing furniture, interior design & decorating.
If you were lucky enough to know Kathy, you knew she had a heart of gold that overflowed with kindness for all of God’s living creatures. She was always giving back to her community. If you didn’t find her in the classroom, you could find her volunteering at church, with scouting troops, or with the sea turtle conservation organization in Caswell Beach, North Carolina, just to name a few. Kathy always had an immense amount of love to give. Her emotional intelligence helped her know when someone needed a joke, a hug, moral support, or a place to live and she never hesitated to give them. Kathy was known for metaphorically giving people the shirt off her back. Wherever Kathy went, so too did laughter and sunshine. She never failed to make anyone feel loved or cry from laughing so hard.
Kathy lived every moment of her life to the fullest. She explored national parks and campgrounds with her husband. She travelled abroad to visit her daughter. She played with and read books to her grandbabies. She “midnight gardened,” thrifted, crafted, and hunted for antiques with her best friends. She attended her kids’ sporting events. She taught Sunday school and managed a child care program at church. She loved the outdoors: biking, hiking, kayaking & camping, and fell in love with every beach and mountain range she stepped foot on.
Kathy is survived by her husband Steve, her children Katie, Christopher, Lauren, Grace, Erin, and Nikki; her grandchildren Reed, Mac, Ellie, and Ezra; her siblings Andy and Ceci; and her mother June. Kathy went home to her Savior Jesus Christ where she was reunited with her late brothers Christopher and Mark, as well as her father Arthur.
Kathy will be interned at Quantico National Military Cemetery with a graveside service for family only.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy asked for donations to the Caswell Beach Turtle Watch to help preserve one of her favorite places and critters. The link to donate: https://caswellturtlewatch.org/donate/
