Linda Ledwell Howie

Mrs. Howie was born April 4, 1943 in Charlotte, the daughter of the late Hoyle Lee and Ruth Bailes Ledwell. Linda worked for over 20 years with the US Postal Service in Charlotte and Greensboro. She and her late husband Robert H. Howie retired to Oak Island in 2003. A strong Christian woman, she loved her grandchildren, cooking, and reading on her screened in porch. Mrs. Howie was preceded in death by her husband and a son R. Todd Howie.

Surviving is a son Brian A. Howie and wife Jennifer of Indian Trail; a daughter Dana H. Willis and husband Robert of Southport; a sister Arlene Ritter and husband Bob of Oak Island; six grandchildren, Victoria Mosteller and husband Chad, Logan N. Walcott and husband Malcolm, Alexandra Myers, Samuel Myers, Beckett Howie, and Bayden Howie; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Gabriel and Sydney Mosteller; and numerous other extended family members.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 in the McEwen Funeral Service Chapel, 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. The family will have visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either, The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

The family extends gratitude to her special caregivers at Carillon Assisted Living, Lower Cape Fear Hospice, and Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation, as well as numerous physicians and staff.
