

Jean was born in Portland, Oregon on January 14, 1945 to Edgar L. Bailey and Barbara N. Handwerk Bailey. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1963. She grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska and moved to North Carolina 20 years ago to be with her 2 sons and live near the beach.
Jean was a devoted Catholic who loved her church, Sacred Heart, and attended mass every Saturday. She Loved the Lord. She loved spending time with her family, taking care of people in need, phone conversations with friends and family. She also loved making ceramics, putting together puzzles and sitting on the porch
with her beloved cat of 19 years, Sampson, watching the birds from her many birdfeeders. Jean worked in collections for the majority of her working life.
She was predeceased in death by her father, Edgar L. Bailey, her mother, Barbara N. Handwerk Bailey, her sister, Sue Bailey Horak and the father of her 2 sons, Bruce (Mac) Garrett MacNish and her beloved cat “Sampson”.
Survivors include her sons, Patrick L. MacNish (Kathy), Thomas L. MacNish, grandchild: Ryon S. MacNish (Hannah), step grandchild Kimberly Preslar; great grandchildren: Grace Paradise Swofford (Tristen), Sophia MacNish and Lucas Colt MacNish; great great grandchild, Hallie Mae, 4 nieces – Shelly Medberry, Krissy Reichman (Kevin), Kerry “Annie” Hurd, Stephanie Cameron (Chris),
Brother in laws: Phil Horak and Robert “Bob” MacNish (Jeanette) and nephew Gregory MacNish.
