I still think about  Renate so often. She was such  a talented and special lady who inspired me so much.  She adored her children and Keith.  I am sure that she is watching over  them and her sweet grandchildren.
I an very fortunate  to have been able to call her a dear friend. 💕💕

  I think of your amazing mother so very often.  I am forever grateful  to have lived next door to her for several years.  Knowing her was truly a blessing.  She will always have a very special place in my heart. Thinking of both of you and sending  my love and hugs.

We especially remember all the great times we had together living on Oakhurst Dr.   Renate had a smile and quick wit and even a bit of prankishness that would brighten anyone's day! I can remember the day I got Keith' esmail, that Renate's lung transplant operation had been a success.  My mother, Waldtraut Landis, was just arriving from the Quad Cities to visit me in Berlin, Germany.  It had snowed deeply and all I could think was that I couldn’t wait to tell my mother the news! I told her in the car on the way home from the airport and we both cried tears of joy.  In the years following Renate was of great support to both my mother and to me, as I continued to battle MS, and especially after Waldtraut's passing a year ago. Renate was a true inspiration to me and I am so grateful that, especially your family, and also the rest of us were granted these extra years of the honor of her grace.  

We have been Renate and Keith's neighbors for almost 10 years now. We were feeling so fortunate before we even moved in  because it was already obvious how welcoming, kind and thoughtful they were.  They continued to be wonderful neighbors through the years.
Since we both enjoyed gardening, most of our conversations were out in the front yards when either or both of us were planting or weeding. Many of those conversations were about her family, when they were coming to visit or she to travel to them, and what was the latest with the grandsons. Topics that always made her face light up. There were so many days we saw Renate and Keith sitting on their front porch  just enjoying the beautiful roses and other flowers in their garden. Sometimes our son Eric was able to join them there too.
One could not be anything but impressed with Renate's tenacity and care for her family.  Despite dealing with her own very serious and worsening health issues, she continued to take care of Keith in a most kind, thoughtful and loving way.
Renate will be missed by so many.

So many beautiful memories I have of my dear friend.  The minute she knew I didn't have family in Ohio, she embraced my family immediately.  Her family welcomed us to their Christmas dinners every year. They made Christmas less lonely for our family.
Renate also became a great friend to my mom. Mom would visit and had to enjoy her time with Renate. They shared their love for flowers over a cup of coffee on her beautiful deck.

Renate was a true friend who was always loving and supportive.  I will always cherish the  wonderful memories of the many times we spent together. 
I will miss her. I am so honored to have been able to call her my friend. 




As a friend of Marisa, much of my childhood memories revolve around time spent at the Holbrook’s household. I remember Renate very fondly from these times. She was always putting in extra effort to make sure Marisa & I had a fun childhood: making special breakfast pancakes after a sleepover, cheering us on after we’d come up with a silly dance routine, providing us with homemade treats in her beautiful garden. etc. It was always very apparent Renate’s love for her family. My sympathies are with Marisa & Andreas during this hard time. We will miss you Renate.
