Survivors include his significant other, Sherri Boyce; his father, Roger Vigland and wife Janet; two daughters, Kari Croft and husband Vick, and Renee McNutt; three grandchildren, Kendra McNutt, Caden McNutt, and Tristan McNutt; a sister, Lisa Fleet and husband Greg; and a brother, Al Vigland and wife Nancy. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members that he loved dearly. All will miss his crazy sense of humor.
Rick attended Spring Lake High School (class of 1977) and graduated from Ferris State University with the completion of the golf program. He began his golf career at Cape Fear CC in Wilmington and then moved to Fox Squirrel Golf Club (now The Lakes) in Boiling Spring Lakes. He began as the Head golf pro then continued his education to get his turf management degree and became the course superintendent. He was part of the Boiling Spring Lakes Volunteer Fire and Rescue and cared about his golf members and his community. He loved music (all types) and playing the drums with his ‘Stick the Live Guy’ band. He loved golf, fishing with friends and family, Calvin and Hobbs, cooking, and preparing exotic foods. Rick enjoyed life and was comforted that God would be there waiting for him.
A special thanks go to Sherri’s parents, Bud and Jane Boyce for including him in their family for so many years.
The family will have a private gathering to celebrate his life.
