Sadie Mildred Hill

Mrs. Hill was born September 20, 1924, in Sea Level, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Andrew Thomas Fulcher and Vivian Lewis Fulcher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Spencer Hill Sr.; brothers Warden, Garland and Jay Fulcher; sons Walter Spencer Hill Jr. and Timothy Clyde Hill; and son-in-law, Tommy Helms.

Mrs. Hill had lived and worked on Oak Island since the late 1960s. She had been a member of Ocean View United Methodist Church since 1966, making her the oldest member. She loved her family, was a fabulous cook, and had special gifts of compassion, hospitality, peacemaking and friendliness. She was an avid gardener and reader, and especially loved Christmas and decorating for it. She will always be remembered for the joy she brought to others and her peaceful and gracious spirit.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pat Flowers and husband Jeff of Southport; three sisters, Violent Swinson of Morehead City, Collen Krupa of Sea Level and June Carter of Waxhaw; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hill; six grandchildren, Tamera Nelson and husband Scott, Thomas Helms Jr. and wife Lisa, Michael Hill and wife Wendy, Kelley Hill and husband Jon, Mark Hill and wife Jerri, and Amanda Hill and fiancée Michael Muncy; 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 27, at Ocean View United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Russell officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at Ocean View UMC.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday in the Styron Creek Cemetery in Sea Level with Pastor Fred Roberts officiating.
